Cadaqués at Easter 2027: bank holidays, weather and what is open

Holy Week 2027 runs from Sunday 21 to Monday 29 March, and in Catalonia Friday the 26th and Monday the 29th are holidays. In late March the Meteocat station at Roses gives an average high of 17.9 °C and a low of 8.1 °C. The Salvador Dalí House opens Tuesday to Sunday in March, and in 2026 the Cap de Creus lighthouse road was closed to cars for the whole of Holy Week.

In 2027 Easter comes early, with the whole of Holy Week inside March, and that changes several things in Cadaqués: some opening hours are still on their winter pattern, the weather is early spring, and in 2026 the Cap de Creus access regulation started right around those dates. This is what official sources say as of October 2026, and what hasn't been published yet.

The 2027 dates and which days are holidays

Catalonia's official calendar of public holidays for 2027 is set by the Generalitat's Order EMT/52/2026, published in the DOGC on 1 April 2026. Over Easter the holidays are Friday 26 March, Good Friday, and Monday 29 March, Easter Monday. Maundy Thursday, 25 March, is not on the list: in Catalonia it is a working day. Each town council adds two local holidays of its own.

So Easter Sunday is 28 March, and Holy Week runs from Sunday the 21st to Monday the 29th. That same Sunday the 28th, the last in March, the clocks go forward an hour, as laid down by Royal Decree 236/2002: from then on the evenings gain an hour of light. Sunrise and sunset times are in the guide to sunrise and sunset.

What the weather is like in late March

Meteocat has no station in Cadaqués; the nearest in its automatic network is at Roses. Taking its daily data from 20 March to 5 April, from 2016 to 2025, the average high is 17.9 °C and the average low 8.1 °C. The tourism website points out that Cadaqués, behind the Pení mountain, has a climate of its own: treat the figures as a guide.

In that two and a half weeks it rained on three days on average, and some years stayed completely dry, such as 2021. The tramontana is more noticeable: on average three or four days with northerly gusts of 50 km/h or more, with a maximum of eight in 2018. For those days, see the tramontana guide.

A swim? Meteocat publishes the sea temperature at L'Estartit every day, but its website gives no March average, so the honest advice is to check that week's reading before deciding.

What is open: Dalí's house, the museum and the lighthouse

The Salvador Dalí House in Portlligat, according to the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation calendar (checked in October 2026), opens from 12 February to 31 March Tuesday to Sunday, 10:30 to 18:00, and every day from 1 April. If that is repeated in 2027, it would be closed on Monday 22 and Monday 29 March. In 2026 it opened as an exception on Holy Monday, 30 March; the 2027 calendar hasn't been published yet, and booking is always compulsory.

According to the tourism website, the Museu de Cadaqués opens out of season Monday and Wednesday to Saturday from 11:00 to 17:30 and Sunday from 11:00 to 14:00, and closes on Tuesday. The tourist office opens in March from Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 13:00 and 15:00 to 18:00, and on Sunday from 10:00 to 13:00. The Espai Cap de Creus, at the lighthouse, opens every day from 10:00 to 15:00.

Outside the village, the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes has its own Easter hours according to the Generalitat's Patrimoni Cultural: Friday to Sunday from 10:00 to 19:00 and Monday from 10:00 to 15:00. How to get up there is in its guide.

Cap de Creus: the lighthouse road may be closed

In 2026 the Cap de Creus Natural Park closed the road from Cadaqués to the lighthouse to cars and motorbikes, with camera enforcement and fines under the municipal bylaw, every day from 28 March to 6 April, from 9:30 to 19:00: the whole of Holy Week, from the Saturday before to Easter Monday.

On those days you go up by shuttle bus from the free Corral d'en Morell car park. On its hours the park contradicts itself: its website gave 9:30 to 19:00 for the March to May period, and its FAQ 8:00 to 18:30 when the closure runs from 9:30 to 19:00. You can always walk or cycle up; more in the closed-road guide.

The 2027 calendar hasn't been published yet. If the 2026 approach is repeated, Holy Week would fall within the regulation, but check the park's access page before you go.

Getting there and parking over a four-day weekend

You reach Cadaqués on the GI-614 from Roses or on the GI-613 from El Port de la Selva, about 13 km and some 20 minutes away, according to the tourism website. With both Friday and Monday as holidays, it's a four-day weekend in Catalonia, so expect more cars than usual. Where to park is in the guide to getting there and parking.

One detail that saves misunderstandings: the Corral d'en Morell car park, with 120 spaces, is free, but according to the park's FAQ it may only be used if you are visiting the tip of Cap de Creus.

Easter traditions, and a nod to a century ago

I looked for an official source on caramelles or other Easter customs specific to Cadaqués and couldn't find one. The festivals page on the tourism website goes straight from the February carnival to the Sant Jordi cultural week in April, and the agenda for March and April 2027 has no events yet. If something is on, it will show up in that agenda.

What is documented is that Federico García Lorca spent an Easter in Cadaqués as a guest of the Dalí family. That story is told in this guide.

Checked

Checked in October 2026 with: the Catalan Department of Business and Labour and CIDO (Order EMT/52/2026), the BOE (Royal Decree 236/2002), Meteocat (daily data from the Roses station and the L'Estartit sea temperature), the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation, visitcadaques.org, the Cap de Creus Natural Park and the Generalitat's Patrimoni Cultural. The averages are our own calculation from the official daily data for 2016 to 2025.

On the current calendar, Tuesday to Sunday until 31 March, it would be closed on Monday the 29th unless there is an exceptional opening, like the one on Holy Monday 2026. The 2027 calendar hasn't been published yet.

Can you drive to the Cap de Creus lighthouse at Easter?

Not in 2026: from 28 March to 6 April the road was closed to cars and motorbikes from 9:30 to 19:00, and people went up by shuttle bus from the Corral d'en Morell. The 2027 calendar hasn't been published yet.
