T-usual: price by zone, who pays less and how to buy it

The T-usual costs €22.80 for 1 zone, the one that covers Barcelona; €30.55 for 2 zones, €42.70 for 3 and up to €67.65 for 7 zones, with unlimited journeys for 30 days. The reduced pass for unemployed people costs €5.65. These prices have applied since 15 January 2026, checked in October 2026.

Anyone spending a few months in Barcelona ends up doing the same sums in their first week: how often they take the metro, whether a pass is worth it and how many zones they need. The answer is almost always the T-usual, the 30-day pass with unlimited journeys. Here are its prices zone by zone, who pays less and how to buy it, checked in October 2026 against the official ATM fares.

How much it costs, zone by zone

The T-usual is personal and non-transferable and gives unlimited journeys for 30 consecutive days from the first validation, on the metro, buses, trams, FGC and Rodalies within the zones you have paid for. These are its 2026 prices: 1 zone, €22.80; 2 zones, €30.55; 3 zones, €42.70; 4 zones, €52.15; 5 zones, €59.60; 6 zones, €63.85; and 7 zones, €67.65.

They have applied since 15 January 2026, according to the fares notice the ATM published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya (no. 9582, of 14 January). The ATM itself explains that the T-usual and the T-jove still cost half their real price thanks to the 50% discounts, which continue in 2026.

For everyday life in the city, a 1-zone pass is all you need. If you want to see how it compares with the single ticket and the T-casual, we cover that in the Barcelona transport guide.

One zone or two: how to tell which you need

Barcelona is in zone 1. The integrated system covers seven rings divided into sectors, and your ticket has to cover as many zones as the sectors your journey crosses. TMB gives examples: to go from Barcelona to Sabadell (zone 2C) you need a 2-zone ticket, but to go to Sant Cugat, also zone 2C, a 1-zone ticket is enough thanks to the metropolitan fare.

That metropolitan fare means 1-zone tickets, the T-usual included, are valid for travel between the 36 municipalities of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area. If you work or study outside the city, check your journey with the zone counter on the ATM website before loading the pass: the T-usual's zones are set by its first validation.

One detail that helps when you fly in or out: the T-usual is valid at the Aeroport T1 and Aeroport T2 stations on the L9 Sud, where the T-casual is not.

Who pays less: the reduced pass and families

The reduced T-usual (T-usual bonificada) is for unemployed people actively looking for work and costs €5.65, the same price from 1 to 7 zones. Under the conditions published in the DOGC, you can apply if you receive unemployment benefit below the minimum wage; if you receive no benefit, or one below the minimum wage, but have been registered as a jobseeker for at least 12 months in the last 2 years; or if you receive support from the social services of a council within the ATM area that is below the minimum wage and nothing from the State.

To buy it you need a certificate from SEPE, SOC or the council confirming that you meet one of those requirements; in the council's case, you also need the DARDO jobseeker certificate.

Single-parent and large families have their own T-usual: the general category has a 20% discount (€18.20 for 1 zone) and the special category 50% (€11.40 for 1 zone). You must carry the single-parent or large-family card along with your ID. And if you are under 30, look at the T-jove: €45.50 for 90 days, valid in all zones.

How to buy and top it up on the T-mobilitat

The T-usual is loaded on the T-mobilitat, and there are three formats. The personalised plastic card costs €4.50 and you order it on the T-mobilitat website or app or at a customer service point. On your phone, if it has NFC, the format costs €1. And the cardboard T-mobilitat, also €1, is sold at network machines and official sales points.

Because it is a personal ticket, it must be accompanied by a valid official ID. If you load it on cardboard, the card must have your DNI, NIE or passport number written on it, and it only takes T-usual passes.

To top it up each month you can use the T-mobilitat app, any self-service machine on the network and the official sales points. As the 30 days start counting from the first validation, you can top it up calmly a few days before the previous one runs out.

Checked

Checked in October 2026 against: the ATM T-usual page (prices from 1 to 7 zones, formats and top-up points), the 2026 fares notice published in DOGC no. 9582 (entry into force, reduced T-usual, single-parent and large families, T-jove and card conditions), the TMB fares page and the TMB zone map (zone 1, the Sabadell and Sant Cugat examples and the metropolitan fare).
